Bob Voss Estate
Bob Voss grew up in Detroit, MI, and came to Sumter in the US Air Force, beginning and ending his career at Shaw AFB. Bob started drag racing as a teenager in a '55 Ford, raing on College Road in Dearborn, MI, and was devoted to drag racing his entire life.
Bob and his wife bought their first "family" car in 1968; an Oldmobile 442! Even though it was financed, it wasn't long before Bob was stripping the car down for racing! (That car is long gone, now, but he always wanted another, and that's the car in this auction!) His wife, Jerri, tells of sending him out for milk when the kids were young, and he didn't return for three hours.....it seems he had been challenged to a race at the store!
Bob raced in several classes all over the Eastern US and Mexico, and held records in class. He owned and operated Bob's Automotive until 2000, when he retired due to health reasons. Bob remained active in drag racing until just a few weeks prior to his passing.
Help us celebrate Bob's life as we offer for sale, at auction, his professional grade tools and his 1968 Oldsmobile 442!
